The Consultation
Before the start of your first treatment, we will complete a questionnaire, discussing factors such as medical history, diet, lifestyle, and emotional and physical issues.
This is done in order to get to know you better and to ascertain your body's needs. It is helpful if you can bring the names of any medications you are taking.
There are certain conditions which can prohibit treatment. These will be discussed, and if treatment is not possible, we will seek to find an alternative therapy that better suits the condition. This situation does not arise often.
After the consultation, you will prepare for your treatment, either by taking footwear off, or undressing (leaving underwear on) and lying on the treatment bed. Your privacy and wellbeing are of utmost importance, and care is taken to ensure you are comfortable at all times. Plenty of fresh towels will cover you with only the area I am working on being exposed.
A cupboard is provided for your belongings and also fresh drinking water and tissues are placed within easy reach during treatment.
Aftercare
Individuals respond to treatment in different ways; there may be a feeling of energy and well being, deep relaxation or you may feel tired and emotional for a day or so. Some may experience cold or flu symptoms or feelings of ‘hangover’. This is called ‘healing crisis’. It shows that your body is responding to treatment and indicates that the healing process has begun. Any reaction is beneficial and should be looked upon in a positive way.
Drink lots of water or herbal tea to flush toxins from the body.
Following aromatherapy treatments, do not wash the skin or use bath oils for 24 hours.
Avoid alcohol, eat light meals, and relax as much as possible to gain optimum benefit from the therapy. |
